What does Cosopt(TM) eye solution do?
COSOPT(TM) helps to reduce pressure in the eye for patients with increased pressure or open-angle glaucoma. It contains dorzolamide (Trusopt(R)) and timolol (Timoptic(R)). Generic Cosopt(TM) eye solution is not yet available.

 

What should my health care professional know before I use Cosopt(TM)?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
        •  asthma, bronchitis or bronchospasm, emphysema, or other lung disease
        •  closed-angle glaucoma
        •  diabetes
        •  eye infection or damage
        •  heart or blood vessel disease
        •  kidney or liver disease
        •  thyroid disease
        •  wear contact lenses
        •  an unusual or allergic reaction to dorzolamide, acetazolamide, sulfonamides, timolol, other beta-blockers, medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
        •  pregnant or trying to get pregnant
        •  breast-feeding

 

How should I use this medicine?
Cosopt(TM) eye solution is only for use in the eye. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Tilt the head back slightly and pull down the lower lid with the index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper to your eye or any other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close the eye gently; do not blink. Use your doses at regular intervals. Do not use your medicine more often than directed. If you use other topically applied ophthalmic medications, they should be used at least 10 minutes before or after dorzolamide; timolol.

This medicine is not for use in children.

 

What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

 

What other medicines can interact with Cosopt(TM)?
Do not use other eye products with Cosopt(TM) without asking your prescriber or health care professional.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional: about all other medicines you are taking or using, including non-prescription medicines; if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol; if you smoke; or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

 

What side effects may I notice from using Cosopt(TM)?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
        •  blurred vision
        •  difficulty breathing, wheezing
        •  dizziness or fainting spells
        •  inflamed or infected eyes or eyelids
        •  irregular heartbeat, palpitations, chest pain
        •  redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
        •  slow heart rate (less than 50 beats per minute)
        •  skin rash
        •  unusual tiredness or weakness
        •  vomiting

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
        •  bitter taste in the mouth
        •  burning, stinging, or discomfort immediately after using the solution
        •  dry eyes
        •  feeling as if there is something in the eye
        •  increased flow of tears
        •  nausea
        •  sensitivity of the eyes to light
